[00:03:52] Speaker A: Hey everyone.
[00:03:52] Speaker C: Welcome to the it's all for Love podcast. I am Cheryl Mazza, the healing dancer, your host. And today I'd like to welcome Maggie from San Diego, California to the podcast. Welcome Maggie. So good to have you here.
[00:04:05] Speaker A: Hi, how you doing? Great to be here. Thank you for inviting me.
[00:04:09] Speaker C: Yes, yes. I'm so excited to talk about Michael Jackson and to hear your story and, well, your stories.
[00:04:17] Speaker A: Share it with.
[00:04:20] Speaker C: So tell me, when did you first discover Michael Jackson? When did he strike you in the heart?
[00:04:25] Speaker A: Yeah, that was in 1983, presentation of Thriller for the first time on TV.
And I was only 13 and so I was watching that movie and then what struck me the most is this one scene and the, in the movie theater with Michael and Ola when they sit together and he's showing that popcorn, right?
This, this is the picture that kind of got me infected. I mean, I, I laid my eyes on that and then that was it. I just kind of like, I, I got totally taken over by, by him and then I never was able to like get that picture out of my mind.
It was the first picture that I posted, posted on my wall in my bedroom.
That's how it, all things started. I started kind of like hearing, you know, listening to his music and then started collecting the posters because it was like a huge explosion of Michael and Poland. Right. Of course. And he was with me everywhere. I mean seriously.
And the school, on the playground at home. I mean, he was literally like I was taking over. Like, I totally got this bug in me and I call it mycoholic.
[00:06:00] Speaker C: I love that.
Michaelicaholic, age of 13.
[00:06:06] Speaker A: Ooh.
So that was the start. Yeah. And then it was hard because we didn't have much money. So my, my parents were really supportive and they, my mom goes like, well, this is better than drugs, you know. So I was like, no, it was at least safe and everything. They were supportive.
Although I. They didn't give me any financial support. I had to earn everything what I was doing all by myself, you know, going to the concert, you know, buying some tapes or buying some posters or whatever. Everything had to be, you know, earned, you know, by myself. So I. Nothing was given to me. Like, okay, do we do your thing? But, you know, you have to, you know, earned on your own.
[00:06:56] Speaker C: Yeah, well, they say, like, supported you still in doing, you know.
[00:07:00] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:07:00] Speaker C: You're, you know, what you wanted to do and to invest in Michael.
[00:07:06] Speaker A: Until now, actually, I wasn't really aware that I was infecting other people with him actually, too, because I lived and breathed and do everything with Michael, you know. So just today, you know, like, when friends reaching out to me, you know, through Facebook and stuff, they go like.
And I'm surprised, you know, that they're like, oh, you were always Michael Jackson fan and this and that. And then you.
Because of you, we listening to him today still, you know, to this day, and then enjoying him, you know, his music.
I wasn't aware of that. I was like, oh, really?
Yeah, yeah. You were acting as, you know, with those. All the drawings that you were doing. You were telling us the stories, you know, like, you met him and all that kind of stuff. So I'm like, okay, well, great to hear that, you know.
[00:07:58] Speaker C: Yeah, that's amazing. I love to hear that. Stories like that kind of like the effect that he had on the world, it was contagious.
So by us talking about Michael, you know, to our friends and stuff like that, it's. It's contagious. They just like, you know, he strikes them in the heart and it's like they start going off on their own journey, you know.
[00:08:19] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly. That's so great to hear them.
[00:08:22] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:08:23] Speaker A: Know that it's happening.
[00:08:24] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. So tell me about your story. You just mentioned that you met him. Tell us about the picture in the background.
[00:08:34] Speaker A: So that was a. That was during the History tour in Poland in 1996.
My friend and my sister and I bought the tickets to the concert and we actually went to Warsaw and spent there, like, four days.
One of our friends, another friend, actually arranged the sleepovers for us in one of the campuses at the universities in Warsaw. Although we didn't do much sleeping, of course. I don't even remember how the sleeping looked like, because it was crazy. We were just, like pursuing Michael through Warsaw back and forth, you know, from the.
From the hotel, you know, to the places that he was going, you know, just chasing him around and.
But before we actually left.
I told the girls, I said, take the best outfits that you guys have because we're going to meet Michael. We're gonna go to the meeting with Michael Jackson. Okay? So I was so serious about it. And then actually, months before that, in preparation for that, I started.
I was so convinced about it, believed in it so much, I started drawing the storyboard for him. For him, about him. Right. I finished right on time. You know, before we left, I had my friend translated for me into English because my English wasn't good at that time. So she. She did that for me. And then we took it. We took the best clothes ever, you know, we had possession.
And, yeah, we were enjoying ourselves in Warsaw.
And so every time we actually, we stayed a lot at the hotel where he was staying. We just kind of like cruise around, you know, a little bit, you know, waiting for him to come back from the. From downtown or so leaving, you know. So we were just kind of catching glimpses of him here and there.
And there was this one time the day before the concert, we were waiting for him in front of the hotel, and I had another little drawing for him, like a separate deal made. A little caricature of him receiving the World Music Award in Monaco in 1992 or 3.
I don't remember exactly. Yeah, I think so. And so he.
He was.
He was holding all the awards, right? And it was like a little bit. I don't know if you remember that moment, right?
[00:11:26] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:11:26] Speaker A: And the prince. To Prince of Monaco to hold it for him. So I kind of like drew a caricature a little bit, you know, cartoon style and laminated it. And then while we were waiting outside the hotel in the, you know, in the crowd, you know, line up, you know, by the barriers stuff. And so he's coming, and I was like.
My sister was like a few feet away from me, and then she had the camera and she was shooting the photos of me, like, waving that.
That drawing, like, above everybody's heads. I was like in the third row or something. So he actually.
I got his attention and he just kind of like glued his eyes to it. And he was just like looking, looking, looking. All of a sudden, just like he points at it and then he goes and he starts reaching for it. And then I was able to just kind of, like gently kind of push it so he was able to catch it. And then he finally got it. And so he looks at it, he starts laughing and sharing it with his. Sharing, you know, with his friends. And that was like one of those cool Moments.
So that was the day before I met him. So next day, we were just kind of chilling, you know, in the hotel and the first floor, there was this Pizza Hut place. Okay? Everybody was just kind of like, going there and some to drink, to eat. And so our group, you know, my friend and my sister and I and some other people with us sitting at the table, and all of a sudden, just looking at the entry door and somebody's. The whole group of people is coming in.
I'm like, but they. They don't look Polish, you know.
And my friend. My friend go, hey, wait a second. This tallest dude, actually, that was walking in, it was Kevin Dorsey, you know, so we were like, oh, really? Okay. So we just kind of like, lift our table. So they sat down at the table. They're waiting, you know, for their food, and we just kind of, like, tiptoed, you know, like, to their table and then just kind of gently, you know, join them.
Yeah, smoothly.
And we started talking to them. I'm like, oh, how you doing? You know, I had my book with me everywhere I was going, of course, you know, just in case.
And so we actually, they. They let us to just kind of join them, you know, sit next to them. And then we just was having the best time of our lives, you know, and then I don't even remember who was taking the pictures at that time, because all of us were. Were there next to them, like my sister, my friend.
And so. And I.
And I presented my book, you know, to Kevin Dozy. And I. And I go, like, well, could you please, when you have a chance tonight, you know, give it to Michael for me, you know, he was like, of course. You know, no problem.
In the meantime, one of our other friends, you know, he had a book, some sort of book. I don't know exactly what book to Actually, he asked Kevin Dozey to sign. To have Michael sign it for him.
And like, okay, I'm gonna do it tonight, you know, when Michael comes back to the hotel.
And that point, we're just hanging out a little bit for a while, and then we left. You know, they just, okay, let's leave them alone.
Let's have them their own time, you know, like free time. Right.
So we left, and I left the book with Kevin, and.
And it's hard. Hard to. For me to remember if it was this. I think it was the same day, because the next day was the concert. Yeah.
So the same day, the same evening, we were back at the hotel in the beautiful clothes, you know, stuff like that. And Then we supposed to meet Kevin, you know, at the lobby.
Supposed to bring that book that. That Michael was signing, you know, for our friend, right? So we hanging out at the lobby, and all of a sudden we see other people come in, like, they. With the VIP passes, you know, and so. And then just randomly, we started asking, you know, excuse me, are you associated with Michael? Are you going upstairs? You know, just like, straightforward, like.
And they go like, yes, yes.
Like, would you please, if you talk to. Can you talk to Kevin Dorsey and then please let him know that we wait in here for the book with this Michael signature, because. Okay, of course. No problem.
All right. So 10 minutes later, we see Kevin coming down the stairs, you know, and then meeting us at that lobby with that book.
So he gave that book to the. You know, to this guy. And then in the meantime, it's me, my sister, and my friend. You know, I started kind of, like, hugging him and getting all excited and everything. And then he goes, well, I can take two of you upstairs to meet Michael.
How about those two people that are responsible for the book?
Those. I created a book, you know, my friend was translating it, so we just kind of like, okay. And my sister goes like, okay, you guys go, no problem. You know, so.
And so, yeah, we were.
A few minutes later, we were in the elevator, you know, upstairs, you know, to meet Michael. And that was this, like, this magical moment, you know, like, oh, my gosh, what are we going to say? What are we going to do? Are we going to act this kind of stuff, all kinds of, like, the thoughts are, like, brewing in our heads, trying to talk. I don't know.
I don't know much English, you know, but so.
And we got there, and then there was some line, I guess there was some sort of, like, meet and greet going on with the fans.
So there was, like, maybe five fans left in front of us. We joined the group, you know, at the end. Everybody was looking at us. They were like. And somebody actually asked us, you know, are you, like, journalists or, you know, like. Because we were, like, dressed up nicely.
[00:17:45] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:17:46] Speaker A: I was like, nah, nah, nah. It just hands.
So I asked Kevin to bring that storyboard for me so I can hand that to Michael in person. So he brought it for me.
And then. So there's time for us to walk in there. Oh, my gosh. Those other fans, you know, like, leaving his room, some of them had to be carried out because they were, like, half fainted, you know, like, they just like, oh, like, oh, my gosh, is it gonna happen to Us too. I don't know.
[00:18:19] Speaker C: I don't know.
[00:18:20] Speaker A: Oh, my gosh. Never know we walking in there. But you know what? The moment I walked in there and I looked at him first, my eyes just kind of fixated on him, like. And I didn't. I wasn't aware of anything else was going on around me. I didn't know how many people was there, you know, who was actually there. What's going on?
He was standing on the other side of the table.
And then. Oh, and then at the, at the lobby while we were waiting for Kevin.
Oh, no, I'm sorry. When he already invited us. Yeah, we go, like, go back to the table, you know, at the lobby. And then it was like, we don't have anything to sign by him. You know, we didn't have anything besides, you know, that book that Kevin brought to the.
To our friend. There's nothing else for us to carry up there, you know, to have Michael sign for us.
So there was like a bunch of newspapers, you know, on the, on the desk right there laying around, just, you know, like current news, whatever.
So I, like, I just grabbed like, I don't know, three, four of them, you know, and then we went back into the elevator.
So this is the piece of paper that I cut out.
This is the front of the newspaper, Polish newspaper. And there is the signature that he put for me over there. So I cut it out and then I eliminated it so it's not damaged. And then later last year, I actually transferred that signature to my arm.
[00:19:53] Speaker C: Oh, that's awesome. I love.
Yeah, I love it.
[00:19:57] Speaker A: So.
So it's well preserved.
Yeah, in two ways.
Oh, my sister in law told me what. Watch your arm. Be careful you while you sleep.
So anyway, so I was there and then it was.
When I'm hearing people's stories, they feel.
They say that they feel super like intimidated or something like that, you know, in his presence.
But for me it was like, of course, if every person is different, right, and different feelings. But for me it was no. I felt like I've known him forever, that I would him and I would just like joke around, you know, like he was making me feel really comfortable. It was nothing, nothing with intimidation. The only thing that I regret was not knowing enough English so I can actually have like a real, like a quality conversation with him, you know. So the only thing we just kind of like limited to.
Here is my book for you. Do you like it? Oh, I love it. You know, so he started when I gave it to him.
He started like flipping the Pages. He was really, like, curious, you know, very polite, but I was really comfortable around him. So while he was. I was giving him those papers, the newspapers, you know, to sign, he was like. He was so curious about it, you know, and so he started flipping pages of those newspapers, you know, like, there's nothing he could read because everything was in Polish. So.
But he was like, oh, okay, there's a picture of me. Oh, there's this, you know, so he was like, really?
It was cute, you know, and so he was like, signing each one of them, you know, for me, for my friends downstairs, for my. My sister. So he didn't have a problem with that. Next thing, we went on the other side of the table, you know, the. His staff asked us, you know, to go around, you know, so we can take pictures together, you know, so we like both of his sides, you know, And I go like, this is kind of.
I need to do something weird, you know, so.
And then that. I always wanted to do that. I don't know, something back of my head was that he's always joking. He's always kind of like trying to make people smile, laugh, whatever. So.
So I decided, you know, and his thing was like, putting bunny ears over people's heads. Right. You know, here, right. So this is what I decided to do. You know, I put a lecture above his hat, right? And cut my fingers in on the picture. But as soon as everybody in front of me, including the photographer, you know, I was like, seeing it. They just like, bastard laughing. They. And then Michael wasn't sure what's going on. So that's why the. The eyes going like this, you know, like. Yeah, but then when he found out. When he found out, he goes like, oh, okay. You know, so you can see in his eyes right there that he actually started smiling. Nothing and all. So.
So yeah, we spent maybe like 10 minutes over there, you know, just to exchange some, you know, a few words, few thoughts and stuff, and then took pictures. And then I. We thank. Thank him, you know, for his kindness and generosity and just the fact that he was.
He was kind enough to just kind of have us there and then spend time with him together. And so it was. It was great. It was really.
It's hard to describe it, you know, because it's.
You're dreaming about it. You don't realize that actually when it's happening, you just kind of want. You want. You want to pinch yourself, you know, like, this is really happening. Is it? You know? Yeah. Is it reality? You know, but yeah, it was.
We Went back. And then of course, you know, you feel like you're flying downstairs, you know, at that point, you know.
[00:24:22] Speaker C: Right, yeah.
[00:24:23] Speaker A: And you share the story right away. Just so, like, excited. And so that was one of the lifetime opportunity and I would love to kind of like connect. I tried to connect with the, with Kevin, you know, to thank him, you know, like, recently looks like he doesn't. He's not really active on Facebook anymore. I just decided to share the story with. With other people, other fans, fan community. That's why I posted it there, you know, and with one of the Michael co workers, he used to work on the.
On black and white film.
Short film. That's what he was saying.
So he allowed me to post the whole story on his Facebook. That's why I gave you the, the link to that story. And then.
[00:25:17] Speaker C: Yeah. Oh, wow. Yeah, that's awesome.
[00:25:19] Speaker A: Yeah.
Oh, and then. Okay, so there is the concert next day. Concert, right?
[00:25:25] Speaker C: Yes.
[00:25:27] Speaker A: So while we were like running back and forth and chilling, you know, in the hotel, my sister. So at some point we kind of separated. Everybody was in their different direction, you know. So my sister was making friends with some people that she met, you know, and they were actually part of the.
The crew, the organization.
Concert organizational crew. Right.
So she was there, I guess, making friends with them, you know, just chatting, whatever. And next day when we were actually lining up to get to the stadium or the concert, we were. We actually were holding tickets to the third section, which was like on the side. It was the front of the stage, but the side of the stage there's some. Some sort of like obstructed view a little bit here and there, you know. So by the time we arrived there, that section, half of that section was already like full.
And then, so we would be like, understanding it was okay, but, you know, not the perfect.
So as we were going through that gate, one of the, the crew members, you know, letting us in, checking the tickets, all of a sudden he looks at my sister and he goes like, hey, I know you.
Like, oh, I know you too.
And then so they go like, oh, yeah, you were the person, you know, oh, Edita, okay, great. You know, word to word. And then all of a sudden she goes like, wow, you know what? Would you let. Let us three to go to the front of the stage right there?
So he didn't even look at the tickets. He was like, oh, go.
So we were like in the front row, you know, right in front of the stage of the concert.
Of course, it was crazy because during the concert you know, there was a lot of fainted people that they were, like, dragging over our heads, you know, taking.
You know, like, taking right there, you know, bing, bing, bing, bing. You know, like, gosh.
[00:27:32] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:27:35] Speaker A: So we had some kind of obstructions going on too, you know, even in that VIP section. Whatever.
So anyway, so. But it was. It was something. Something amazing. I mean, just to. Just to see him so close again, you know, and then you could. You could tell that he was actually, like, looking at us, you know, here, you know, moment. Momentarily here and there, right. And he was, like, smiling and he was like kind of like the body language kind of interaction, you know, the facial expressions interaction, you know, saw it all. I mean, it was just. It was just there and was amazing. Another one of those magical moments. So I can't imagine those. Those events, like, one after another was just kind of lining up for us, you know?
[00:28:22] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:28:24] Speaker A: Once I set myself to get to that goal, it was just like, lining up for me right there. And then it was just like, okay, take it, take it, take it, you know, So I was taking it.
[00:28:37] Speaker C: That is awesome. You manifested all of that.
Oh, my gosh. I can't imagine what it was like to see him in concert. Like, just the energy must have just been crazy amazing.
[00:28:52] Speaker A: I saw him before the Dangerous tour in Berlin, but we were, like, way far back, you know, but still, you know, the energy, the. Yeah, the excitement and everything was there. I was like, next time we will be like, I'm gonna meet him. Okay.
[00:29:13] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:29:17] Speaker A: It'S gonna be you and I do it. Okay.
[00:29:22] Speaker C: Was it like, were you squished up front like that? Like, I know you were getting hit with people going over your head, but was it like.
[00:29:29] Speaker A: The breeding was, like, so difficult. Yeah, it was so hot. And you can see, you know, that that steam was coming out of us, you know, like. Yeah, we're so, like, close together.
You. You. It was actually. It was cold. It was September. In Poland, we usually have cold temperatures at that. That time. It was right, you know, going into fall, you know, we were so close. We were just like. So. Yeah. Squished each other to each other that we actually were giving the heat to each other. So, like, super hot and, like, sweaty and then, you know.
[00:30:03] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:30:05] Speaker A: And then. Yeah, we're like on those. Those barricades, you know, in front of.
[00:30:07] Speaker C: Us, just kind of like half push up against them.
[00:30:11] Speaker A: Oh, my gosh. Crazy.
[00:30:13] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:30:15] Speaker A: A little bit, you know, later, you know, but you really had to, like, fight, you know, with your elbows to make sure that somebody was not getting like in front of you, you know, by a chance. Because everybody was fighting for that first spot, you know, so it was pretty.
[00:30:28] Speaker C: Oh, geez.
Fight for that spot, you know, waiting for my spot.
Don't get in front of me.
No. That's awesome. I love everything about both of those stories. So thank you so much for sharing.
[00:30:43] Speaker A: You're welcome. Yes.
[00:30:44] Speaker C: How does Michael Jackson continue to inspire you in your life?
[00:30:49] Speaker A: How Continues to inspire me. Okay. Well, it started actually when I first laid eyes on him. Inspired me like artistically.
It's by. He always inspired me in the way building this self esteem. He was always this escape for me in the difficult times. Right. Difficult situation in the family or at school, being bullied and stuff like that. So I always had something to go to and then enjoy it. Right.
[00:31:23] Speaker C: So.
[00:31:23] Speaker A: So that this is the goal that he set for people. Right. That he always talks about. I want to create for people something to enjoy in their life. To create some sort of escapism that they can actually go and feel good about themselves. To feel good, you know, to put that joy in them and enjoy life.
So this is exactly what I can tell about myself, that this is what he was doing for me.
Of course he influenced me in so many different ways. For example, whatever you do, do it the best you can, you know, always give 100, 110.
Never cheat in whatever you're doing, you know, because treat everything, you know, like what you do, like you do your best.
Also. He inspired me.
Of course. Thanks to him, I started studying English. We didn't have English at school, you know, at that point was just Russian.
So I started taking classes, taking classes and study by myself, you know. And then it was kind of like slowly but surely, you know, and I was getting there.
But yeah, he was, he was the one that inspired me to do that. He first thoughts about coming to the United States just kind of were born based on him, you know, being closer to him or just the excitement of, of this different world, you know, that is something different than I was in Poland where I was kind of like felt a little bit like in the confined.
He opened that world for me. He goes like, oh B, give me this courage, you know, you can do this, you can do that. Nothing can stop you, you know, if you set yourself something. So this, this type of encouragement and inspiration that he was giving me all the time. Yeah. And also to this day, when I was going through the school, different type of schools, he was always there with me. I mean, I never. He was always in the back of my head listening to his music, you know, enjoying, you know, everything.
Collecting all the videos, you know, like chasing actually those new albums, you know, like in music stores and stuff like that. It was so exciting. So always gave me so much joy and excitement. So that was total distraction from the like, from the, the reality sometimes rough reality, reality.
So I always will be like really thankful to him for that. And yeah, he was always my muse in my art creations. You know, like if there was some assignment at the school, right, let's say there was a sculpture class. Of course I had to sculpture Michael, you know, and this is one of those.
His signature positions, you know, whatever.
Then when I was applying for the certification of the as a film animator, when I was going to that. To that school. So at the end we had the test to certain to be certain to become certified animation artist.
Of course. What do I. What did I choose? Michael Jackson Motion.
So it was like a 2 minutes.
The assignment was 2 minutes animation frame by frame.
So of course I chose all the combination of Michael Jackson signature moves, you know, in one, within those two minutes, you know, quick, really, like just in pencil. Right.
So yeah, of course I got the certification based on that.
So.
And then I worked in animation for 10 years before I. Then I came to United States and kind of continue it in the arts arts field.
I was doing portraits of people, pets, kids, you know, on commission, painting houses inside, you know, like interiors, you know, like decorative painting, all kinds of that type of stuff, you know, so. And then there was there's this time when I realized here when I came to United States, they have something like thriller dance, flash mob kind of thing. Okay. So they're like actually one of my friends talked me into it because they knew that I. That I love him so much, you know, that I've been fan forever and I've been telling everybody stories here in the United States, you know, about meeting Michael and stuff. And so they encouraged me. They go like, well, let's go together, you know, do some thriller dance, you know, let's join the group, you know, and learn dance. First I was kind of like apprehensive. I'm like, I don't know how to dance. Whatever.
And then when I started first I go like, I thought that was going to throw a towel. Seriously.
I was like, I. I have a rhythm, but I don't know how to move the body. Just kind of like have it all and put it all together and then have my body being taken by the music, you know, like.
[00:36:52] Speaker C: Right.
[00:36:52] Speaker A: And Actually move to the, to that rhythm.
So I was like, I was like, nah.
But then I go like, okay, well, there's this, this whole video. You can do this. Learn step by step. You know, there's this instruction right on the, you know, on YouTube. You can do that. You can do that.
Okay, well, I was, I. I decided, okay, I'm gonna do this.
So we ended up actually having joined this flash mob. It was in 2011 in Del Mar with 400 people doing the flash mob dance, you know, Thriller dance on the street, you know, in the main.
Main street, you know, the Del Mar fair grounds.
So that was the.
That was another great, beautiful experience. I mean, I just, I just didn't want to end, you know, it was just like six minutes, seven minutes. And that's it. You know, we.
Not just the dance itself, but the practice leading to it, you know, the lessons, all the classes and practice at home, practice with the, in the groups, you know, out there with the instructor. So everybody's synced, you know, and I was stuff. So it was so much fun. So my joy, I mean, just that. And then last year, so leading to last year actually for like 20 years.
20 last years. I'm not saying that I forgot about Michael, but I had to kind of like, I kind of got thrown into this new life.
I had to build the life here in the United States. Well, I came here just with the tourist visa. I had to figure out, you know, how to, how to work it out so I don't get kicked out, you know, I have to leave, you know, never come back, whatever. So.
And everything. And again the same thing happened. Like, I don't know if we. We just. Sometimes I think we just have this.
I think I believe in the destiny. You should. There's something, you know, like written for us, you know, out there. This is how it's gonna happen for you. And this is, this is where you belong. This is what you should be doing. All that, all that is already like pre determined for you out there, you know, like universe or something. So again, all those events, I. First of all, I met fantastic people here in the United States, you know, that without them, without their help, I would be probably. I don't know where I would be.
I was able to actually accomplish all my dreams. Stay here, United States.
Of course. I. Great.
I like one of them is my husband.
So I was kind of busy building this new life here, getting the jobs, securing my positioned here to be able to stay here forever, you know, and, and pursue other of my dreams. You Know, so I can. But I never, you know, he was always in the back of my head, of course. And actually, I have to say that I'm pretty glad that it happens, that I kind of put him on the little bit on the.
On the shelf for a while, because going through that 2005, I was actually getting married. That. That year in March 2005, I was getting married.
If I was involved or watching the whole thing, the whole craziness that Michael was going through, I would.
I don't know, I would break probably too. I mean, sometimes they say the. The knowledge is the power. Right. But sometimes not knowing what's going on actually is actually working for.
[00:40:56] Speaker C: Right.
[00:40:56] Speaker A: Because it's like a blessing. Right?
[00:40:59] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:41:01] Speaker A: If. If I knew if I was actually, like, involved in the whole situation, oh, my gosh, I would be so devastated. I know I wasn't there, you know, to be there to support.
To support. And then after, you know, the 2009, when he. When he passed away, it hit me. It hit me really hard, and I couldn't.
I was like. I was. Started kind of like, damn, I wish I was there. You know, I was actually. I was more involved. I was, you know, well, just kind of hard for me to, like, really get going at that point, you know. Okay, what. What do we have now? You know, it's like, what now? What's. What's next? You know, since all my life was, like, involved, you know, evolved around him and.
[00:41:51] Speaker C: Right.
[00:41:51] Speaker A: It was like building my life, you know, on those. In that strong kind of, like, connection with him, like, mentally.
It was hard. It was hard.
I went through it. But then.
Yeah, so I was working. I got. I got a job actually at SeaWorld. For nine years, I was working at SeaWorld. And then, you know, I was working at SeaWorld when he passed away.
So. And then everybody and all, like, they're sitting. We were sitting at the office, you know, my co workers, you know, seeing me making, you know, what happened. Right. You know, they. They heard it before me, you know, like on the radio. So they try to, like, make me feel better and stuff like that. Please don't cry. You know, whatever.
Like, I didn't know what to say. I was just shocked, you know, I. I couldn't cry. I couldn't do anything. Yeah, it's like numb.
Numbness just kind of like taking over, you know? And then, yeah, I got home and then I started listening to the news and stuff, and then I kind of realized, oh, this is actually real. Yeah, this is actually happening, you know, So I really got involved in horse training. I became a professional horse trainer. So that was another part of. I pretty much was building my own business from scratch. And last year I started, thanks to the social media, Facebook, YouTube, whatever, you know, I started hearing and seeing those messages, informations that we are celebrating. That was last year before. I'm sorry, but last year I actually, I got into action the year when there was 40th anniversary of thriller released. Thriller. So I kind of read about it a little bit later, a few months later, but then I go like, hey, wait a second. Okay.
All right. So I started kind of like, re.
Reconnecting back, you know, I started kind of like getting again more drawn back to.
To Michael, you know, like. Like he says, I mean, somebody said once you are a fan of Michael Jackson, once you love Michael Jackson, you never stop, no matter what happens in your life. And people do not understand. This is something. And then another quote that is actually by him, he says that my fans truly are a part of me. Right?
We share something that most people will never experience and will never understand.
Okay? So this is something that I realized, you know, that no matter how old I am, no matter what I do in my life, he will always pops, you know, at some point, you know?
[00:44:41] Speaker C: Yes.
[00:44:41] Speaker A: Yeah, it reminds. Reminds me, hey, I'm still here.
Please love me. Don't forget to love me.
[00:44:51] Speaker C: Like, never forget. Michael.
[00:44:55] Speaker A: You can't. And here you go.
There's this magical reappearing of Michael Jackson, you know, last year. Study with that, that idea of 40th anniversary of thriller, right? So I go like, wait, wait a second. This is 40th anniversary of my fandom, right?
When I became fan of his. So I go like. And I started thinking. Started thinking about, I have this signature of his. I have those beautiful pictures here, you know, so literally I started digging through the pictures, you know, going through memories, you know, from Poland and other times. And then I started pulling stitches out and then, like, putting them up, you know, like blowing them up and actually framing those pictures, you know, and they go like, okay, what about that signature? I'm gonna do.
I'm gonna do a tattoo, okay?
Like, and my husband, you know, he's great. You know, he. He never stood in my way. He always supported me. He was always excited for me, you know, when I was telling him stories, you know, about meeting him and stuff, and he was like, oh, my gosh, you were lucky. You know, you were really, like, happy for you and stuff. And when I. When I started kind of bringing all that up, Again, he goes like, yeah, you should do this, you should do that. You know, you should go there and then you should do that. So when I say told him about the tattoo, he goes like, well, the tattoo place is right there. You know, I drive you there a few months.
Okay, thanks, honey.
So, no, he was really supportive. He's. He's really adventurous, you know, and yeah, he was like. He liked to party, you know, through his life, too. So he. He knows how to, you know, how it feels, you know?
[00:46:49] Speaker C: Yes.
[00:46:50] Speaker A: So I got the tattoo on my arm. It was like, I got this energy in me, you know, through this, through this ink is like.
You know, what they did actually when they were tattooing it on my arm, they were playing Thriller for me. And after Thriller, Billie Jean. Right. So we measured the time of making the tattoo from the beginning to the end of the Thriller and half through Billie Jean.
That's how long the Making the tattoo, actually. Oh, wow. Okay.
[00:47:23] Speaker C: That wasn't very long.
[00:47:27] Speaker A: You know, like, oh, my gosh. It's not all right. I barely felt anything, you know, but, you know, we were listening to the music at the same time. We were both singing. So it was. And. And again, that excitement that, you know, this. This wave of this.
This magical thing, you know, just kind of like overtaking me again. And I go like, okay. All of a sudden, all these events popping, you know, in the. You know, in the social media, you know, about Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson here, Michael Jackson that, Michael Jackson there. So I go like, okay, so first thing was the NJ musical that I actually took my husband to. We want to see it together.
[00:48:07] Speaker C: Nice.
[00:48:07] Speaker A: Oh, my gosh. I just. I have goosebumps just for me talking about it. And full house, all the seats taken.
I mean, the energy in there again, like, like, like you were in the concert, you know, like the same thing.
I mean, everybody. All the races, all the ages, I mean, and I. And I stood and I was standing in line to the bathroom, you know, and at the break, break time, and I was sharing my story with other people. I mean, it just like started, like, pouring out of me and not sharing all that, you know, excitement and enjoy with them. So it was another one of those moments.
And then I saw this ad by Prince Jackson, you know, about the popcorn King of popcorn movie night series, right? I came across that first time, I go, I go like, 500.
That's a lot of money.
Hey, this is actually charity. You're doing something good. And I started, like, talking to myself like that, right?
This is charity, first of all, okay.
And plus, you can write it off taxes, right?
[00:49:22] Speaker C: Yeah. It was your business.
[00:49:24] Speaker A: Hey.
All right. It didn't take much. I'm like, okay, I'm buying.
[00:49:29] Speaker C: I'm going.
[00:49:31] Speaker A: I'm going to. In August last year.
And so I promised my sister when I make it there to that house in Havenhurst.
I don't know, you've probably seen that part of the interview that.
An authorized interview, when she sits by the.
The fountain. Yeah. And then gives that interview. Right. So he brings the llama, whatever. And then he. There's this moment when it's, like, dark, and he starts singing this song. The Peter Pan song, Right.
So I go, like, when I get there, I'm gonna sit by that fountain. I'm gonna recreate that moment, and I promise that to my sister. You know, she goes like, oh, great. That'll be great. You know. Yeah, good luck. Whatever. She was cheering for me, of course, when I got there, you know. You know, first of all, I would never sing in public. I would never open my mouth. I'm like, yeah, geez.
Ah. Are you kidding me? I don't know. Something. Once you actually. I got.
I put my foot on the property, and I hear the music. I see all those people. I see all those posters.
I see the house, and I go like, oh, my God. And something just, like.
Again, this magical something, like, energy, you know, like, entered my body, and I started dancing and I started thinking, and I just, like. I didn't care about the people around me.
I mean, I try to soak up all the. That energy, that this atmosphere, you know, this. You can feel that his presence everywhere. I mean, I. I didn't care about the movie that they were playing. I was just walking around the fountain. I was trying to, like, get to the places where we could go, you know, like, back and forth, you know, spend some more time in there and just kind of, like, sit there and then just, like, just enjoy the moments and quietly.
And I don't know how many times I approached that fountain to.
In attempt to kind of, like, start singing. I. First of all, I couldn't figure out what to do, how to set up my camera so I can actually, you know, do that.
And again, something like this.
Another one of those things that.
It must happen. Okay, Was written that it has to happen, okay? No matter how you're gonna do it, you have to do it.
And this opportunity. Opportunity comes. First of all, I wouldn't be able to use my camera because all the background noises they were playing, they were doing some. Some sort of like a quiz, you know, in the background, you know, talking on the microphone and stuff like that. So it was pretty loud, you know, if it wasn't the music, it was somebody talking.
So I wouldn't be able to even hear myself on my phone, like, singing.
[00:52:37] Speaker C: Right.
[00:52:39] Speaker A: So there's this one, one hand who has his own, like you, you know, making videos. A podcast.
He actually makes videos and some sort of advertisement, you know, for like, red carpets. He's like, yeah, participating in those big events, you know, of like high, high profile events and recording it. And.
And so he actually approached me and asking me if I can answer some questions for him. You know, it's like a. Like a little interview kind of thing.
So I said, of course. So he gives me this little piece of like a little fuzzy thing, you know, my mouth.
Oh, this is microphone. This is.
So just hold it here and then. And then. And then talk. Right.
So when we were done with that, I go like, I kind of shared with him my idea what I would like to do. And first I was kind of thinking, if he can hold my font, you know, like as close as possible, you know, to me or something. But then he goes like, oh, use my microphone.
So he.
He put my microphone, his microphone on my shirt, you know, he goes like, just stand there by the.
By the fountain. Start singing and I'll record you, you know, using all his equipment.
So I didn't have a choice at this point. I had to sing.
They made it, you know, nothing.
It wasn't too graceful, you know, like, Michael would do it.
Singing was a little bit there. A little bit. I mean, it was okay. A little shaky, you know, but my, you know, this. This stage, fear, whatever they call it, fight, you know, it was like taking over me, whatever. But I went through it. I accomplished my goal, you know, and that was it, you know, so he shared that video right. Right away with me, and that was it.
[00:54:48] Speaker C: Wow.
[00:54:49] Speaker A: So then we had a great. I had a great conversation with the other fans, you know, sharing my stories. They're sharing their stories. I mean, we spent. I was there to the very end until they started kicking everybody out.
[00:55:00] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:55:00] Speaker A: Because I didn't want to.
[00:55:02] Speaker C: Right.
[00:55:02] Speaker A: I leave. I want to stay here.
It was so beautiful. I mean, again, just that magic, magical moment.
[00:55:13] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:55:15] Speaker A: And then there's another event, Kingvention. I think Kingvention beat everything, everything else, because we had actually chance to talk to people who was the closest to Michael, you know, so not just them standing on the stage and telling the stories, but you can you could personally interact with them, you know, after, afterwards. We could, you know, you know, ask for the signature, you know, talk to them, personally interact with them.
But just the stories that they were telling on that stage, it just, like, made Michael to be present with us. You felt actually his presence there. Yeah. You felt actually that he's there. He is sharing that space with us.
It was like this overwhelming kind of feeling.
Joy and sadness at the same time.
I mean, I was crying the whole freaking time. Like, said that Garrett was telling her stories. They were so freaking funny. And she's so hilarious, but the way she was telling it, she was crying. Everybody's crying. It was just like. It was so infectious, you know, like, it's, again, one of those things that it's hard to. Hard to explain, but you have to be there. You have to, like, experience that. You have to kind of feel that. That vibe, that atmosphere. That was the most kind of. That put the most kind of impression on me. Michael being there, you know, like this. It was really like something else.
I wish I could kind of, you know, have those words and describe it.
[00:57:05] Speaker C: Yeah, well, it's like, feel him. Yeah.
[00:57:10] Speaker A: And. And then the. The.
The after party, you know, like, everybody.
The most beautiful moment after part that. During that after party. Yeah, we were dancing Thriller. We were dancing all this. The other stuff, you know, like, from the.
From the. Off the wall through trailer, you know, through all the other, you know, albums and stuff, eras.
But then the most kind of, like, impactful was the moment when they started playing. You were not alone. Okay, so first everybody started kind of like by themselves, you know, like, individually. There's this group of, like, three girls, you know, starting kind of dancing and swaying, you know, in the circle.
All of a sudden, like, out of nowhere, everybody started joining them into that circle. And then that circle gets bigger and bigger and bigger, you know, and then all of a sudden, everybody on the dance floor is singing and swaying, you know, to this piece of music, you know, and. And again, like, goosebumps, electricity, you know, tears. I mean, joy. I mean, like, laugh at the same time. It's like, all mixed up.
So it was just, like, uplifting and so magical.
It was incredible. Incredible.
[00:58:32] Speaker C: What was that called again?
[00:58:35] Speaker A: You Were Not Alone.
[00:58:36] Speaker C: No. What was the.
[00:58:38] Speaker A: Oh, King Convention?
[00:58:40] Speaker C: Kingvention.
[00:58:41] Speaker A: Invention. Yes.
[00:58:42] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:58:43] Speaker A: That was, for the first time, they had it in la.
Okay. Normally, annually, it happens in London. So this year they are back in London.
[00:58:54] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:58:54] Speaker A: So, yeah, they were doing, like, a test run.
You know, how it's gonna go with, you know, Here in the United States, there was like 158 of us. Yeah.
So it was not big, not huge, but again, not. Not too small, you know, just. Just perfect, you know, just like.
But yeah, so hopefully it will grow, you know, bigger here and eventually they will do it like, you know, like alternate.
[00:59:30] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:59:31] Speaker A: You know, here, one right there, you know, and so. So, yeah, they're getting ready for the next one this year in London. They already started advertising.
I think it's in May.
[00:59:41] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:59:42] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:59:42] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:59:43] Speaker A: So, yeah. But again, oh, my goodness. And.
And the end of October, of course, I got myself back into the Thriller dance. I don't know if you. If you go to my Facebook page and you see all those events there, I don't know if you were able to actually had a chance to go through that.
Yeah. So there's me.
Oh, Zombie, zombie.
[01:00:13] Speaker C: Don't beat out.
[01:00:16] Speaker A: So this time I got really. Got into it, you know, and then I, you know, perfected it and I went out there, you know, and did. Did it. So again, Good, good.
[01:00:27] Speaker C: And you're going to do it again this year, I think.
[01:00:30] Speaker A: Yes, yes. Because we have this group of people. I found a group of people that do it every year. And I practice. I actually went to this one practice lesson with the instructor. It was just me and him because nobody else showed up.
So.
And then a few days later.
But that was great, you know, everybody was like looking at us. They were like, oh, great, great.
Cool little park, you know, A few days later, I decided to actually join. You know, the actual dance. It was just came really quickly to me. I was. I didn't know, like, last minute. Everything, you know, the outfit, you know, the makeup, whatever. I was just like slapping on whatever I could on my face, you know, and then just like the hair. Hair was already there. The color at least, you know, I just had to kind of like, rough it up a little bit. And I was like, wait, what kind of clothes I can spare Here, this piece. And this piece. Okay. Started shredding, you know.
[01:01:32] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:01:32] Speaker A: So it just. It took me like a couple of hours and I was all done, you know, so.
[01:01:39] Speaker C: That sounds so much fun. I. I want to do it here in New Jersey this year. I've never done it. I've never done it.
[01:01:45] Speaker A: I know. You dance there, right? Yeah, sure.
[01:01:47] Speaker C: Yeah, I know. But I want to, like, lead it here in New Jersey, so hold me to it.
[01:01:58] Speaker A: Be great one day. You can do it together, huh?
[01:02:01] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah, exactly. I would love that. To travel around the world and do Thriller.
Yes.
[01:02:08] Speaker A: Yeah. This is what I envy to those fans that were able to like, kind of travel around the world, you know, like, oh, my God.
You know, like, it's as close to him as like, become his really, you know, trusted friend and stuff. I just bought that book. I don't know if you've heard about that girl, Thalia. She forget her name. Last name just kind of sounds German.
[01:02:33] Speaker C: I know, I know what book you're talking about. I can't remember the name of it. I think I have got it too.
[01:02:39] Speaker A: You got it too?
[01:02:40] Speaker C: Yeah, I haven't read it yet, but I did get it.
[01:02:42] Speaker A: Yeah, Yeah, I just started, but I. Yeah, I have to.
[01:02:45] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, I know. I love reading all those stories about. Yeah. The fans that followed him.
[01:02:51] Speaker A: I heard her on the. I was listening to her interview on MJ Cast podcast.
[01:02:58] Speaker C: Yeah.
Yeah, I heard of an interview on there too. Yes. That's how I was like, I need to get the book.
[01:03:05] Speaker A: Exactly. Same thing.
[01:03:06] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah.
[01:03:08] Speaker A: So that's what I would like to imagine.
Well, I was fortunate enough just to meet that guy. I mean, damn.
[01:03:18] Speaker C: Gosh. Yeah.
[01:03:20] Speaker A: Still kind of like, wow.
All those feelings, all those. All that emotions came back, you know, like starting, like digging in, you know, pulling all that stuff out.
[01:03:35] Speaker C: I love it. Oh, my gosh.
I can feel the excitement.
Well, do you have. If you have to pick a favorite song, do you have one?
[01:03:47] Speaker A: You know what?
First thing always when somebody asks me about it, what first comes to my mind is the Keep the faith.
[01:03:55] Speaker C: Yes. I love that song.
[01:03:56] Speaker A: It has so many beautiful layers of that music of those.
Those vocals. I mean, the choir, the. The intensity of it, the build up to the, you know, from like very soft and smooth and then it goes like boom.
[01:04:16] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:04:17] Speaker A: And it's like, you know, like this wave of emotions came through you again, you know, like.
[01:04:23] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:04:23] Speaker A: Something really special about that. And then the beautiful message, this powerful message.
If you don't believe in yourself, who's going to?
[01:04:33] Speaker C: Right? Yeah.
[01:04:34] Speaker A: So set yourself for success, you know, Build your self esteem. Don't.
Don't hear anybody else is telling you that you cannot, you know, just like block yourself from all that negativity. Just focus on the goal and just go for it. Yeah, do on the way of doing that, pursuing that goal.
Do your best, you know, give yourself all yourself, you know, to whatever you're doing. The journey is also important, you know, to reaching that goal.
[01:05:06] Speaker C: Right, right. Very important.
[01:05:09] Speaker A: This is. Yeah, that's the first song. And then I always, you know, like brings me.
Brings up emotions, you know, in Me. And so I don't know also if you noticed when you go to my Facebook page, I also have like a separate Facebook page and Instagram, which is professional horse training.
And. But I post most of those videos also on my regular Facebook page where I add Michael Jackson's background music. So when I'm riding the horses.
[01:05:46] Speaker C: Oh, wow.
[01:05:47] Speaker A: So you can take a look at that too. So that started happening also last year, you know, like when I. I'm just kind of like, hey, this song, look, I mean, this song sounds great with this, with this video of me on the horse.
Something different with the horse. You know, this song looks great. I mean, sounds great with that. So I'm just kind of like putting it together and then, you know, just, just looking at it and listening to just gives that good vibe, you know, and it gives me extra joy of doing what I'm doing. A passion for the horses with. Combining passion with the horses, you know, to the horses. For the horses. I'm sorry, With Michael Jackson. Yeah, it's nothing better, you know, until my passion.
Yeah, all that.
[01:06:40] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:06:41] Speaker A: Turn passion into a profession. It's also, you know, another level of, you know, some excitement and joy and you never feel like you go to work, right?
[01:06:54] Speaker C: Yeah, exactly, exactly. I strive for that.
Yes.
Well, tell me, what do you want the world to know about Michael Jackson?
[01:07:07] Speaker A: Okay.
Instead of talking, can I just read a quote?
Yeah.
From. From Elizabeth Taylor.
[01:07:15] Speaker C: Sure. Yeah.
[01:07:18] Speaker A: Because this is exactly what I feel about Michael. And then you cannot put it better than she did and then she knew him. Because we don't know him in that. On that level. Okay. Personal level. Okay. Like she does.
But this is what I feel and imagine like what he is and what he's like.
This is exactly what I would like to say about him.
So here he goes. What makes Michael even more unique is the fact that all he has achieved, his accolades have never changed. His sensitivity and his concern for doing good to others, or his immense concern for others and his love for his family, friends, and especially for all the children all around the world. He's full of deep feelings that make up this supernatural, extraordinary, innocent, childlike and wise man that Michael Jackson is.
He gives so much of himself that sometimes he is far too little left to protect that wonderful core that is his essence. Michael is highly intelligent, perceptive, intuitive, understanding, compassionate and generous to the point of self sacrifice.
His honest, honestly personified, painfully honest and vulnerable to the point of pain.
This pretty much summarizes everything, what I would like to say about Michael, besides of him being in the greatest entertainment of the world, you know, in the world.
Because that's what he always wanted to be. And then he achieved it, surpassed it, you know, in different levels.
[01:09:12] Speaker C: Right.
[01:09:14] Speaker A: Nothing can compare to him. I mean, it was just.
And the humanity, humanitarian in him is just unbelievable.
[01:09:25] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:09:27] Speaker A: So this pretty much summarize what.
[01:09:31] Speaker C: That was beautiful. Thank you for sharing that. Yeah, that definitely explains him a lot.
What a lot of us feel about him.
All right, one last question for you.
How does Michael continue to spread love in your world today?
[01:09:50] Speaker A: Yeah. Just in the simple things.
Everyday things. Trying to be. Every time.
When I think about somebody who is less fortunate than me, try not to turn away.
Try to give them words of compassion, you know, sympathy.
Reach out with some helping, even just words, encouragement.
If I see a person, homeless person, begging for money, instead of thinking, oh, what's he gonna spend it on? You know, alcohol, this and that, or whatever, I just. I just give him the money, you know, I don't know. I mean, it might be that one person that is gonna change the whole day for him, for her.
[01:10:44] Speaker C: Right.
[01:10:46] Speaker A: This few dollars that I just shared, you know, So I cannot. Don't predict, don't. Don't.
The project.
Don't assume.
Just give that heart, you know, in that way, instead of turning your head away from somebody who is like in trouble, just approach and ask, you know, if they need any. Anything, if they need help.
Sometimes. Usually they say no, whatever, but it doesn't hurt to just ask, you know. So, yeah.
Daily basis. So every. Every time, you know, when you come across situation like this, you just ask yourself, what would Michael do?
[01:11:27] Speaker C: Right.
[01:11:28] Speaker A: Right.
[01:11:29] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:11:30] Speaker A: And then do whatever you can because, you know, you don't have that money that he had. You're not in position of, like, give so much that he did.
But your heart is the most important.
Love.
[01:11:42] Speaker C: Exactly.
[01:11:44] Speaker A: Compassion. Just feel with that person. Try to put yourself in the shoes of that person and treat them that way. Like you would like to be treated.
[01:11:53] Speaker C: Exactly.
Beautiful.
Thank you. Thank you so much for sharing all your stories and amazingness with us. I appreciate it.
[01:12:04] Speaker A: Thank you so much. I mean, that was so much fun. Yeah. I could keep talking and talking and talking.
[01:12:11] Speaker C: Me too. Me too. I know. We could talk for days.
We can do it again sometime. Talk about.
[01:12:18] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:12:20] Speaker C: Thank you so much. Thanks everyone for watching. And it's all for love. Bye for now.
[01:12:27] Speaker A: Bye, Sam.
